You may have heard of a little film opening this past weekend, Avengers: Endgame. You may also know it became the first film in history to cross a $1 billion box-office threshold its opening weekend, or that it set head-spinning records like the biggest international opening weekend, biggest IMAX opening and the biggest opening day in North America.
What will really bake your noodle, though, is looking at the film’s performance in the context of the entire run of some of the other most successful films of all time.
As of now, global ticket sales for Endgame—a three-hour culmination of the franchise’s 22-film arc—are estimated at $1.2 billion in its opening weekend.
For comparison’s sake, that’s just behind the total theatrical haul of Iron Man 3, which brought in $1.21 billion over its roughly four-month run.
